Read Veneers has recently completed a bespoke veneering project involving a selection of wood veneer panels for one of the most highly respected music schools in the UK: the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

The Guildhall School of Music and Drama is one of the world’s leading conservatories and was rated the number one specialist institution in the UK by The Guardian University Guide 2013. Naturally, we were honoured to have the opportunity to collaborate to provide first class veneered panels to the institution.

In the Public Eye

The Guildhall School of Music and Drama is not only one of the world’s best conservatories but it is also home to world class performance facilities meaning the school attracts a great many visitors each year to see performances ranging from opera, classical music and theatre.

The school is housed in situated in Barbican in the City of London which is Europe’s biggest arts conference venue. With such a high profile venue that is very much in the public eye it goes without saying that the brief demanded work of an exacting specification.

A Complete Job

Working alongside another veneering company who requested our assistance in order to meet an impending deadline, we prepared 2.4mm mahogany wood veneer panels for two grand foyers, the box office and the staircases of the musical venue. The veneers were pressed onto 18mm birch ply and then passed to our partnering company for finishing. Whilst finishing is something we regularly do ourselves, on this occasion it was part of the agreement to split the work in this way so that we could meet the strict deadline required.

We were honoured to have contributed to such an important London building and look forward to hearing the feedback from its patrons.
